You may need to display the song slide number or other information in the footer or the header.
See the highlighted area in the below image for an example:
Picture
To display the song slide rank in the footer of every song verse:

1. Click the "Songbooks" button:
Picture

This will display the songbooks properties in the middle panel:
Picture
This panel enables you to set the header and footer templates.

2. Type-in following text template in the footer fields:

[Song title] ([Songbook abbreviation] [Song number])

Slide [Verse rank] of [Verse number]
[Church licence]

Picture

From now on, all song verses (unless their style specifies differently at a higher level) will be displayed with their verse rank and verse count:
Picture

The list of available template fields is described here.

3. Save your changes:
Picture
Remark 1 The songbooks properties available in the middle panel are a convenient way to setup the header and footer templates, globally for all songs.
However, the header and footer templates are part of the VideoPsalm cascading style properties.
This means that you can setup these properties at any style level, in the Style explorer.

Remark 2 For "Lower third" use, set the header and footer size and location accordingly.

Remark 3 Bible verses have distinct header and footer templates.
You can setup their field templates like you do for songbooks.

How to adjust the Bible default font size

5/16/2020

This topic shows is about Bible verses. However, you can apply the same method to resize song lyrics.
To change the Bible default font, proceed as follows:

1. Display a Bible verse, to see how it gets rendered in the preview area.
This will enable you to see the result of your font style changes.
Any Bible verse will do.
Picture
2. Click on the "Bibles" button, to the right of the "Songbooks" button:
Picture
This will set the VideoPsalm style level to the "Bibles" style level.
Alternatively, select the "Bibles" style level in the toolbar:
Picture
From now on, until you change the style level, all changes will be done at this style level.

3. Make sure that the "Automatic word wrap" button is pressed:
Picture
In case the "Automatic word wrap" button is not pressed, VideoPsalm will display the Bible verses on one line, with very small characters:

So make sure that the "Automatic word wrap" button is pressed at the "Bibles" style level.

4. In the toolbar, in the "Text" tab, in the "Font" group, adjust the font size to 70:
Picture
By default, the Bible font size is around 100, but 70 may fit better.

That is all there is to do.

This new font size will apply to all verses of all Bibles that you have (and others that you will later get), except for those Bible verses where you individually set another font size (see the links at the end of the article about VideoPsalm cascading styles).

5. Save your changes:
Picture
Wipe all Bible customization
You may have accidentally set specific style attributes to some Bible verses, chapters, books, etc.
While the "Bibles" style is selected, delete all the above style attributes:
Picture
This will delete all styles customization at following style levels: Bible, Testament, Bible book, Chapter and Bible verse,.
For example text color that you have previously set at some Bible verses.
These style attributes have priority over the style changes made at the "Bibles" level, so it is good to remove them, now that you did the changes at the "Bibles" level.

Save your changes:
Picture
Changes that you make to Bibles may be ignored, depending on how your options are configured.
Make sure that the following option is selected:

VideoPsalm uses the concept of cascading style attributes, enabling you to define in a few clicks the style at any level: song verse, song, songbook, all songbooks, base.

Sync songs between multiple computers via DropBox

12/1/2018

To sync songs between multiple computers, you can use a service like DropBox, OneDrive or any other similar cloud solution.

VideoPsalm usually stores its songbook files in the following folder:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\VideoPsalm

To setup your VideoPsalm to sync with DropBox:

1. With a File Explorer, copy the "C:\Users\Public\Documents\VideoPsalm" folder and its whole content into a DropBox folder, for example into "C:\Users\Marc\DropBox\VideoPsalm".

2. Start VideoPsalm.
It will load its documents (songbooks, Bibles, images, videos, etc.) from the usual location, namely from "C:\Users\Public\Documents\VideoPsalm".

3. In its settings, tell VideoPsalm to load its files from the DropBox location:
Picture
4. Click "OK" and confirm that you now want VideoPsalm to load its settings from this DropBox folder.
The next time that you start VideoPsalm, it will remember to load its documents from this new location.

5. Proceed from step 3 on all PCs that you want to sync your songbooks with.

Additional points and remarks
  • You will need to "share" your DropBox VideoPsalm folder with the other PCs, so that they get the changes from the other PCs.
  • It is recommended to set the same DropBox folder path on all PCs.
Indeed, by default, DropBox's shared folder is located here:
    C:\Users\<username>\DropBox\
This means that each PC sharing a DropBox folder for VideoPsalm, will by default have a different folder path.
For example on the church PC, you will end-up with:
    C:\Users\Church\DropBox\
And on you home PC, you will have:
    C:\Users\Marc\DropBox\

With such a setup, you are forced to embed referenced documents (PowerPoints, slideshow images, etc.) into their agendas.
Although this is the default VideoPsalm behavior, it is a waste of space, especially when using DropBox.

To eliminate this restriction, switch your DropBox shared folder for example to the following one:
    C:\DropBox\
And set this identically on all PCs.

With this trick, you be able to gain space (and synchronization time) with the agenda size.

To tell VideoPsalm not to store referenced documents in the agenda (and gain DropBox disk space), configure this in the VideoPsalm settings, by deselecting the highlighted checkboxes:
Picture
  • If you implement the previous trick, be sure to understand the implications well.
In particular, the agendas won't contain the referenced files (images, videos, PowerPoints, etc).
VideoPsalm will fail to display them if you open such agendas on a PC where the referenced files are absent.
  • To recapitulate:
This trick lets you gain disk space by allowing to store your agendas without embedding the referenced files.
The referenced files need to reside in the DropBox folder.
  • For more information about how to move a DropBox folder to another location:
Move a DropBox folder (DropBox help)
Move a DropBox folder (How To Geek)
  • Make sure that the changes from other PCs are propagated onto the PC before you start VideoPsalm.

Alternate solutions to transfer songbooks, new songs and song corrections from one PC to another

a) Use an agenda
1. On your home PC, type-in new songs and make song corrections.
2. Put all new or edited songs into an agenda.
3. Save the agenda onto a USB stick.
4. On the church PC, open the agenda from the USB stick.
Before opening the agenda, make sure that the "Agenda open options" are deselected:
Picture
VideoPsalm will propagate the changes into the church PC songbook.
If the church PC songbook doesn't exist, VideoPsalm will create it.

5. Save your changes on the church PC:
Picture
b) Transfer the songbook directly

1. On your home PC, type-in new songs and make song corrections.
2. Save your songbook changes.
3. Locate the songbook file on your hard drive.

A handy way of doing this is to open the VideoPsalm options, and press the "Explore" button:
Picture
Your songbooks are located into the "Songbooks" sub-folder.

4. Copy the songbooks onto a USB stick.

5. On the church PC, paste your USB stick songbooks to the corresponding songbook VideoPsalm folder.

6. Open VideoPsalm.

c) Use the VideoPsalm backup/restore feature
